Leah "Lee" Pearse, of Newburyport, died early in the morning on Friday, Jan. 6 when she attempted to enter her Airbnb through the third-floor balcony after locking her keys inside, according to her obituary.

She had enjoyed a beach day followed by dinner and dancing before she slipped and fell.

Pearse was a passionate Certified Nursing Assistant who gave her patients "the utmost care, love, and comfort in their greatest time of need," according to her obituary. She was also working on her five-year master's degree in nursing at Simmons College, where she had straight A's.

After an active high school experience, which included service on the student council and playing on the lacrosse team and co-captaining the girls' swim team, Pearse enjoyed an independent college experience. She spent time with "her fabulous group of Simmons' friends," according to her obituary, and fell "deeply in love with her amazing and ever-loving boyfriend Bobby."

Along with enjoying time with friends and family, Pearse was an animal lover, who loved lying around with family dogs Luna and Wally, and caring for her cat, Mo.

"People felt they knew her after just the first interaction, and often they loved her immediately for the ease her presence brought to every room she entered," the obituary read. "Her confidence, compassion, and amazing sense of humor had a magnetic effect and she tended to bring out the best in the people around her."

Well-wishers can donate to an American Nurses Foundation fund set up in Pearse's honor

Pearse's visitation is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 13 at the Haverhill Country Club from 12 to 3:00 p.m., followed by her memorial service.
